Charles Franklin Brewer, age 86, of Salem AR, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011.
Charles was a native of Clarendon, AR, born on Aug 18, 1925 to James and Frances (Neal) Brewer, the youngest of seven children. He was a US Army veteran, a retired construction worker, an avid outdoorsman, and friend. Charles was also a member of First Baptist Church in Salem.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Bertha, Bessie, Mary, Myrtle, Louise, his brother James as well as best friend Leonard Sharp of Covington, LA. Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years, Effie LaVerne Penn Brewer, affectionately known as ‘Bess’ and four children: Tommy and wife Joyce Brewer of Jonesboro, AR; Donna Brewer of Salem, AR; Karen and husband Charles Willett of Salem, AR; and Vicki and husband Chad Stoddard of Marked Tree, AR. He was known as Paw Paw to 10 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 step great-grandchildren. He was affectionately known as ‘Unc’ to numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 18th, 2:00 PM, at Salem Cemetery with Bro. John Hodges and Bro. Chad Stoddard officiating. Pallbearers were Trevor Cummings, Jason Cummings, Michael Willett, Charles C. Brewer, Jordan Richard, Hunter Brewer, Andrew Stoddard, Mike Kenslow and Paul Meagher. Honorary pallbearers were Zach Branscum, Jimmy Kelly, Buster Farguson and George “Hoot” Miller.
Memorials preferred to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
