Hyla Jean Brown

Hyla (Jinx) Jean Brown, 86, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, was born on March 27, 1925, in Toronto, Kansas, daughter of Earl and Thora (Terry) Ogilvie. She departed this life on October 25, 2011, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. Hyla was united in marriage to Kenneth Elsmore Brown on March 9, 1946. She was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith. Jinx, a nickname given to her by her grandfather, and husband Kenny purchased property in Horseshoe Bend in the late 1960’s, built a home they called “No Place’, retired and moved to Horseshoe Bend in 1979. Over the years, Jinx was an active volunteer with the Little Theater, Chamber of Commerce, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and many other local activities and groups. She leaves to mourn her passing: one son, Nick Brown and wife Sandra of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; one daughter, Kandace Brown of Hastings, Nebraska; special friend, Jack Ryan of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Corey, Josh, Courtney, Jason, Amy, Angie and Jeremy; twelve great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother Terry Ogilvie. Private memorial services will be held at a later date in Virgil, Kansas. Local arrangements by Barker Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. Memorials preferred to American Cancer Society.
