Thelma Martha Payne, 100, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, was born on October 30, 1910, the daughter of J. W. and Lydia (Broussard) White. She departed this life on October 21, 2011, at Eaglecrest Nursing and Rehab Center in Ash Flat, Arkansas.
Thelma was united in marriage to Charles Carroll Payne in 1938 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Crowley, Louisiana. She was a school teacher for many years and a member of the St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas.
She leaves to mourn her passing: one son, Charles Carroll Payne, Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida; one granddaughter, Heather Payne; two great-grandchildren; three nephews and one niece; and Miss Thelma was very dear in the hearts of special friends, Guy and Cindy Lindstrom and Max and Madalyn Goodwin; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2011, 10:00 AM, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, with Rev. Ann Carriere officiating. Interment will be in the St. Stephens Episcopal Church Columbarium. Barker Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.
