Thelma Ellison was born on July 31, 1919, in Fulton County, Arkansas, daughter of William Henry and Melinda Allie (Dykes) Wilkening. She departed this life on October 15, 2011, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 92 years, 2 months and 15 days.
Thelma was united in marriage to Victor Eugene Ellison on March 2, 1937, in Fulton County, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Moko Church of Christ.
She leaves to mourn her passing: two sons, Herman Eugene Ellison and wife Rosie of Eldorado Springs, Missouri, and Truman Dale Ellison and wife Beverly of Eldorado Springs, Missouri; one daughter, Bonnie June Mitchell and husband Richard of Koshkonong, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Ricky Ellison, Victor Ellison, Misty Ellison, Pete Mitchell, Lora Lee Buckner, Joey “Shorty” Mitchell and Shawn Sanders; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, Bryce, Lanis, June and an infant, and five sisters, Edna Ellison, Opal Ellison, Jeanette Holloway, Ruth Robinson and Aleeta Carr.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, 2:00 PM, at Sturgeon Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, with Bro. Dan Campbell officiating. Interment was in the Sturgeon Cemetery under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. No visitation.
