Arlene Elizabeth Gates

Arlene Elizabeth Gates 88, of Ash Flat, Arkansas, was born on April 29, 1923, in Rockton, Illinois, the daughter of Lyle Edward and Mildred (Nuttle) McMaster. She departed this life on October 4, 2011, at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Arlene was united in marriage to Robert Franklin Gates on May 14, 1948, at Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, and to this union, nine children were born. She was a homemaker and was of the Jehovah's Witness faith. She leaves to mourn her passing: six sons, Terry Gates of Jones, Oklahoma, James Gates of Clinton, Oklahoma, Kenneth Gates of Ash Flat, Farrell Gates of Jonesboro, David Gates of Ash Flat and Brian Gates of Ash Flat; one daughter, Kim Kahn of Ash Flat; one brother, Larry McMaster of Rockford, Illinois; three sisters, Ruth Kincaid of Rockton, Illinois, Francis Richardson of Roscoe, Illinois, and Alice Benjamin of Lake Elsinore, California; twenty-four grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, Beverly Hankins and Patricia Ainley, parents, one brother Keith McMaster and one sister Ina Belden. Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 6, 2011, 4:00 PM, at Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. Jack Richardson officiating under the direction of Barker Funeral Home. Memorial preferred to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House, 701 Burnett Drive, Mountain Home, AR 72653.
